The residency program is an all expense paid, which covers studio space, a cash stipend of $250 per month, lodge and board.

Paid by artist 

Art supplies, flight tickets from artist city/country, transportation and shipping to or from the program are paied by artists.

Application guidelines 

• Open to academically qualified visual artists from any country working in drawing, painting and sculpture.
• Recipients must be at least 21 years of age at the time of their residency.


  • Submission of the Application Form (download here), Artist Photograph to be pasted.
  • Submission of the Statement of Intent that is the third page of this document.
  • Complete Bio-Data of artist on separate cover.
  • Ten Hi-Res images on a CD in *.jpg or *.tif format. Be certain to include the medium, size, date and title for each work. Alternatively, you may provide a web address where your works can be viewed.
  • Two letters of recommendation from recognized/ established referrals (artist/institutions) on official letterhead with phone no. and e-mail address. * note: letters of recommendation from art galleries are not accepted.
  • Participants are required to commit to a four week program, but may indicate preference for a eight week residency (based on availability).
  • Participants are required to live and work at the residency.

Vice~Versa is an independent and non profit art foundation, It conducts artist workshops, seminars and artist camps in a wide spectrum of cultural understanding, its artist-in-residence centres in the visual arts are located in various places in the state of Goa in India.

Vice~Versa offers Fellowships in its Artist-in-Residencey programs which are dedicated in supporting artists regionally, nationally and internationally and promoting contemporary art, infusing a regional character within a national and international perspective. The residencies constituted are places where artists work, conduct research and resulting exhibitions introduce the general public to a composition of contemporary art practices by artists from around the world.

China Residency Fellowship-- VICE~VERSA & BEIJING SHANGYUAN ART MUSEUM International Artist Exchange Program

The Vice~Versa Foundation has cooperated with the Beijing Shangyuan Art Museum and has invited visual artist from India to apply for a one month residency at the Beijing (China), under the International Artist Exchange Program since 2012. More information about this program:


Two or three works will be selected from work completed at the residency for the foundations collection. The work done during the residency will be documented and published in the annual primer/volume of Vice~Versa.

Open garden space, painting, sculpture and woodcut studios.

Technical Information 

Artists live in one of the three Goan heritage homes in a private room with attached bath and studio space during their stay. They have access to a fully equipped and stocked kitchen, laundry facilities, a library, computer and Wi-Fi. Residents may participate in any of the critiques or workshops offered during their stay. Buses connect the houses to the provincial and capital cities.


The heritage homes across Goa, India located in the villages of Saligao and Colvale in the north of Goa, Chicalim, Colva and Loutolimin the south of Goa.
