Studio and technical assistance.
V2_, Lab for the Unstable Media is an interdisciplinary center for art and media technology in Rotterdam (the Netherlands). V2_ presents, produces, archives and publishes research at the interface of art, technology and society. Founded in 1981, V2_ offers a platform for artists, designers, scientists, researchers, theorists, and developers of software and hardware from various disciplines to discuss their work and share their findings. In V2_'s view, art and design play an essential role in the social embedding of technological developments. V2_ creates a context in which issues regarding the social impact of technology are explored through critical dialogue, artistic reflection and practice-oriented research.
V2_ offers residencies to professional artists, both full residencies and so-called Summer Sessions.
The Summer Sessions are short-term residencies for young artists organized by a network of cultural organizations all over the world. The Summer Sessions offer a highly productive atmosphere with production support and expert feedback to jumpstart your professional art practice. The result is a pressure cooker in which you develop a project, from concept to presentable work, ready to show. Calls for these residencies are sent out and announced on this website. To get an impression of the talent development, please have a look at the Summer Sessions website.
Full residencies are curated by V2_. There is no call, though they are open to artists who approach them with feasible plans within their areas of interest and expertise. As part of the residencies V2_ offer artists a workspace and specialized technical and artistic support by their own team and the developers they work with. An impression of the work that artists in residence at V2_ have developed can be found on the projects page.
