Tofino Workshops for the Arts

Tofino Workshops for the Arts

Description

Tofino Workshops for the Arts is a place to come and experience the joy of art making with nature as an integral part of the process. It is an environment where artists can work at their practice with the ocean and rain forest to rejuvenate them.

Accommodation Information

Stays are two to six weeks in length depending on your project. These are self directed residencies, however there is a large artist population in Tofino and discussion groups are both possible and welcomed for stimulating ideas. Included in the time is the use of the studio, digital station and darkroom for a maximum of 14 hours work time per day, very comfortable shared accomadation with privacy enclosures (both with queen beds), full kitchen and bathroom and two outside decks. All views look out to a canvas of green.

Location

Situated between the ocean and the inlet, Tofino Workshops is surrounded by old growth forest. We are located 5 minuutes drive to the town of Tofino on the west coast of Vancouver Island, B.C. A two kilometer stretch of open ocean beach is a relaxed eight minute walk from the studio and there are biking/walking paths to town and beach. There are numerous 'big-tree' rainforest hikes and all of the ocean activities for play during 'time off' from art making. The town has a population of 1500 and has high rain seasons in the mid winter, which makes storm watching an exciting activity. The closest city is Port Alberni, an hour and a half drive from Tofino.
