Description

Taigh Chearsabhagh Museum & Arts Centre is the visual arts and heritage centre for Uist. Throughout the year Taigh Chearsabhagh holds visual art exhibitions, poetry and literary events, traditional music events and small festivals. They host world class contemporary art exhibitions, have an award-winning museum, work with local and international artists, academics and writers. They aim to grow in moving image.

The unique ecology and culture of the islands of Uist provide the context within which the organization is able to offer a special creative programme with a distinct sense of place. Through residencies, research, commissions, events and public programmes, Taigh Chearsabhagh provides unique opportunities for thought, creativity and interaction, creating an engaging, vibrant and diverse visual arts programme. They develop themed exhibition programmes featuring a balance of the highest quality Scottish and international contemporary art, and island-based artists and crafts producers.

Commissions and residencies are awarded by invitation or by widely advertised open calls for proposals. Artists are also welcome at any time to propose projects relevant to our curatorial policy for consideration.
