Founded as a way to bring artists to Galesburg. To provide free housing and studio space for two months for five visiting artists, with one or two short exhibits, and occasional informal presentations and receptions.

Galesburg is located on Interstate 74 in West-Central Illinois between Davenport, Iowa and Peoria, Illinois. Peoria and Moline airports are less than an hour drive. Downtown Chigaco is a three-and-a-half-hour drive, or a three-hour ride on Amtrak.
