STATE is a Berlin-based festival and studio for open science, art and innovation. Founded in 2014 out of Paul-Drude-Institute, STATE stands for a new way of connecting people with science: participatory, interdisciplinary and inspiring. Integrating research, technology and culture in its thinking, STATE explores current developments in science where cutting edge research transforms society. It creates a meeting ground for science and the public, where scientific inquiry meets artistic expression. Deeply rooted in the conviction about the power of interdisciplinary creativity and open participation, STATE connects curious minds across borders, working to make science accessible and facilitate creativity without borders.
STATE in partnership with Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in the Helmholtz Association (MDC) are launching a paid residency program in Berlin, offering a unique opportunity for artists that are eager to advocate open science and foster a dialogue between a broader public and the science of genome editing. The program is a two-month open science exchange program with MDC’s CRISPR-Cas9 research groups, designed to give you hands-on experience at their institute and lab facilities under the umbrella of over-all topic: genome editing research.
The residency will result in an exhibition at the Berlin-based Science Art Gallery STATE Studio in October, 2018.
There is no accommodation provided but the organizers can assist in finding something suitable.
Studio of around 200m2 where the artist can work together with the team. Further, the artist is invited to cooperate closely with the researchers at MDC and all MDC facilities.
