Application guidelines:

Individual authors and art groups working in the field of contemporary art are invited to participate in the program of international residences. The program is open to artists of different directions, such as visual arts, new media, film, literature, as well as curators and researchers. The main condition for participation in the program is the idea of an interesting project and the desire to work in a new cultural space.

The St. Petersburg Art Residency (SPAR) was founded in 2012 in the oldest local art centerPushkinskaya-10. The program invites art professionals from all over the world to live and create in Russia’s cultural capital. But it is much more than just working on a project in a guest studio. Being part of the SPAR means experiencing a whole artistic adventure by becoming a community member, exploring the city’s unique cultural landscape and presenting your own art. The residency regularly accepts participants from Europe, US, Canada, Asia, South America, Australia and Africa. Being a platform for trans cultural communication the program supports continuous exchange between artists and researchers of various art directions and media, with different artistic training and world-views. The SPAR participants live and work in a unique cultural surrounding of the lively art centre Pushkinskaya-10 located in the historical part of St. Petesburg. It is home to 40 studios of St. Petersburg artists, musicians and performers, exhibition venues and concert stages the artists-in residence are welcome to explore.

 

Outcome

At the end of their residencies the participants hold a public presentation of their projects in a form of a solo exhibition, performance, artist talk or publication.

Studio Information

The residence provides participants with a living and work space.

Technical Information

The participants of the project become full members of our art community and have access to all the resources of the art center, including: a library, space for rehearsals and presentations, exhibition venues, etc.
