About The Art House: Established in 1994 by a diverse group of artists, The Art House places equality of access and higher diversity in contemporary visual arts practice at the core of all their programmes. With more than 50 accessible artists studios, exhibition spaces, on-site accessible accommodation for creatives, a shop, a café, meeting rooms and event spaces. The Art House, artists and audiences of all kinds are invited to engage with the creative process through a year-round programme of residencies, exhibitions, events, workshops, and professional development opportunities.
ROSL works with The Art House in Wakefield to provide two residencies each year for artists who are from Commonwealth or former Commonwealth countries and have never studied or exhibited in the UK. The two-month residencies are fully funded and focus on networking and creative development with opportunities for artists to share their work with a UK audience. They offer artists time and space to develop creatively in a calm, productive and connected environment.
As well as networking opportunities fulfilled, artists are asked to produce work for an exhibition at a UK art fair and an exhibition at The Art House in Wakefield.
This residency hosts 2 artists in a single apartment. Each artist has their own bedroom with a shared kitchen/living space.
Each artiost is allocated their own studio space amongst the studios of local artists. Multimedia and digital equipment are available for use. Artists also have access to a full printing studio.
Artists will have access to a local network of creatives.
