Viborg Kunsthal is an exhibition space for the living and dynamic contemporary art and Riddergade AIR is a residency programme for professional Danish and International artists, allowing for networking and development of each artist's practice. There are affiliated volunteers/ local hosts that will assist with local transport, organizing excursions, guided city tours etc.
There are four scholarships awarded annually to applicants. The scholarships will be given to two artists per period, which means that there will be two artists in residency for one period at a time: one from 22/03/21 until 28/06/21 and the second from 23/08/21 until 29/11/21. The purpose of this is to give the artists the possibility of working alongside each other and thus making new connections and dialogue, preferably one in the studio and the other in the graphic workspace. Each scholarship includes a fee of 18.000DKK to support the coverage of travel, living, and material expenses.
If the situation with Covid-19 makes the physical stay impossible the residency stay will be held digitally.
The organizers expect the artists to have time and space to experiment and focus on their work in the residency period. The aim, likewise is to facilitate a network that will ensure future collaboration and exhibition possibilities between the residencies and the local artists and exhibition locations. Viborg Kunsthal expects that the artists in residency will show there works at the end of a residency period by giving an artist talk and/or hosting an Open Studio event.
Riddergade AIR is located in a villa from the 1950s, a two-minute walk from Viborg Kunsthal. With six bedrooms, two living rooms, kitchen and two bathrooms. In addition to the villa is a graphic workshop and a studio used by artists during their stay. Others might be staying at the villa at the same time as the artists in residency, often artists in connection to Viborg Kunsthal.
Studio and a graphic workspace.
