Application guidelines 

The call is open to anyone who has completed his/her studies. Age nor nationality is demanded. Personal work and motivation will be considered for applying as much as being involved in a collective project.
The residency aims to bring a group of people interested in working together on performance art and research. Restitution issues are also essential. Everyone should be definitely active on any level of the residency, whether on work, research or daily tasks and chores.

The residents have to commit to a 2 weeks stay at Residence Suddenly. Applications must be sent to the residency per email. Only one PDF file of 20Mo is attached to the email.

The PDF must present the documents in this order:

  • CV
  • Portfolio (or a relevant selection of personal texts or any other documents)
  • Statement
  • A film or sound document of a minute or less to be shot in your kitchen. Free content. A direct link of this recording should be attached to the application email (file uploaded on Vimeo, Youtube, personnal website, etc.).
  • A list of the technical needs.

Any missing parts in this application, or wrong file format would cancel it.

Suddenly residencies is a programme of art and research residencies, set up in Brussels and in the countryside near Paris. Each year becomes a new place for  experimentations and thoughts. As an artist-run project, Suddenly constantly extends new areas of research and stands out from institutional requirements.

Suddenly Made is about objects, their status and processes of production. Each resident will have to design a limited series object. Six residents (the 4 selected applicants + the 2 curators) living and working together during ten days in beauchery and another ten days in brussels. First phase will focus on design and prototyping, while second
phase on producing the serie’s first item and exhibiting.

Accommodation Information 

The residents share rooms of maximum two beds. There are two bathrooms, a fully-furnished kitchen and a living room.

Technical Information 

Technical studio, B&W photo lab, tools. Creation and exhibition spaces: warehouse, barn, gardens.  Specific equipement is not provided.


The Residence Suddenly is in an old farm in Beauchery Saint Martin, a small village in Seine et Marne (France), at 100km of Paris. Provins is the closest city (12 km). There’s a suburbian train from Paris, and it takes 1:20hr.
