PICTURE BERLIN covers the studio for the residents in addition to multiple group meals.

Program fee, airfare, housing, materials and some food.

The Summer Session program fee is € 3295 (Fall Session program fee is €1759) which includes artist lectures, more than 10 one on one meetings with artists and curators based in Berlin, public transportation ticket within the city limits, a map, 2 basic German language classes, artist studio visits, 2 exhibitions, a choreographed artist walk (called IN SEARCH OF THE MIRACULOUS) with 6 different artists, a curatorial marathon with at least 6+ different international curators, a group catalog and a 90+ page PICTURE BERLIN handbook of the city which specific information about the program (schedule, biographies of everyone involved in the program) and a 135+ page FIELD GUIDE which includes lists and lists of resources in the city of Berlin.

PICTURE BERLIN is a hybrid residency / art academy dedicated to dialoguing on contemporary art. Up until 2018, they have been running the program every Summer and Fall.
In 2019, they will be taking a pause in the regular programming to celebrate the last 10 years of PICTURE BERLIN with exhibitions, meetings, performances, reviews, walks and dinners - all mentioned programming, under the header INTERIORS TO BEING, will be open and free to the public. (Thanks to a substantial grant from the Haupstadtkulturfond by way of the Berlin Senate).
The participants of next Summer\'s program will be the alumni and Berlin based artists and curators who have contributed to the program over the last 9 years.
The programming will resume with changes and new locations in 2020. The next application round will take place in Fall 2019.

Accommodation Information 

PICTURE BERLIN will give support to those who are looking for housing but ultimately it is the responsibility of the participating artist.

Technical Information 

Artists are required to bring their own equipment; cameras, laptop, video cameras, tripods or any other equipment they could for see using during the residency.
