Description

Opketa is a non-profit, artist-run studio with 25 artists working in various disciplines.
Since 2011, its artist-in-residence programme has facilitated direct exchange between regional and international artists, art historians and curators. Through international cultural exchange and regional collaborations Opekta aims to promote, develop and strengthen networks between artists and art disciplines. The artists and art experts who participate in the Opekta artist-in-residence programme reflect the diverse artistic disciplines of both the artists working at OPEKTA and the art scene in Cologne. For further information about the organisation, visit www.opekta-ateliers.de

Opekta is looking for

  • International artists and art experts working professionally in any artistic discipline with the aim of realizing a project in Cologne, Germany (Individual application)
  • Locally-based artists or art organisations planning to develop and present a project in Cologne in collaboration with an international artist or artist group (collaborative application)

Each residency is between four and eight weeks. During this time the visiting artist is asked to present their artistic work or research in the OPEKTA Project Space in the form of an installation, lecture, concert, performance, artist talk etc. By means of their own (social) infrastructure, the OPEKTA artists and collaboration partners connect the visiting artist with local artists, curators and institutions and provide organisational support.
