New Zealand Pacific Studio Artist Residency Programme
At the historic Kaiparoro House, New Zealand, we offer a residency centre that gives creative practitioners and researchers the space and time to focus on a specific project, while we bring national and international artists together, allowing the enrichment of individual creative practice. At NZPS, we are also concerned with the wellbeing and creative potential of communities through the finding and sharing of stories and processes that honour and protect our local culture, history and environments.
Applications are welcomed from creative practitioners and researchers seeking to enrich their practice and do serious work. Residents also have many opportunities to connect with our local communities through exhibitions and performances, regular open days, radio talks, school sessions, Question and Answer forums and workshops.
A live-in House Manager and artist supports residents and helps facilitate connections. Nearby sponsors and caretakers also support residents.
Writers residency
To help support emerging writers, NZ Pacific Studio is offering it's cosy and inspirational writer's studio over September and October 2015, at an attractive self-funded rate. Our smallest live/work studio with a single bed, it's ideal for immersing yourself in a writing project for a week, or few weeks, as best suits you.
Kaiparoro House provides a large renovated garage studio to visual artists, a large open loft area with library (sometimes used by resident musicians and dancers) and garden-facing rooms for writers. A self-contained cottage is also often available: this combines a Norwegian style compact living space with firebox and studio.
