Travel and living/insurance costs for the residency. MoKS can help with some materials and special tools on previous mutual agreement. MoKS occasionally gives out artist grants for residency period, but it depends on current year budget.
The MoKS open Residency program has operated since 2002.
MoKS is looking for people who are interested about researching and carrying on experiments on sustainable models of operation. Be it either in soft or hardware, in social or physical structures, human interactive processes or engineering techniques – they are looking for creative models of sensitive change and evolvement. The studio is available to use from March 1st through November 30th (for a small fee).
Artists are accommmodated in the studios. Please read the info about the studio space above. Artists can use a common kitchen, toilets and a shower room. There is also a washing machine, and possibilities to arrange sauna.
There are 3 different studios at MoKS, with a combined living and working space. The studio spaces are used by resident artists selected on the specific open calls; also they can be rented – possibility to apply on running basis all through the year. The artists in residence stay and work in their own studio and bedroom, and share the kitchen and bathroom. Studios are furnished, bedrooms are supplied with beds, mattresses, bed linen, blankets, towels. The studio space room sizes vary between 36-65 m², the bedrooms between 15-18m². Occasional events such as workshops or Open Studio days may require the resident artist to temporarily share some of the studio facilities (artists will be notified of the conditions previous to arrival). All the rooms have internet access (wireless).

Medialab facilities include: Sony TCR- DRV25e mini dv camera, P4 computer, digital video and sound editing possibilities, TV and DVD/VHS player, video projector, stereo sound system.
In the village (of approx 500 people) there are 2 little grocery shops, a chemist and a clinic. It is possible to use the village library. There is bus connection to Tartu (40 km to the north, the second bigest town in Estonia) where all the facilities of a modern city can be found.
