MART Curatorial & Artist Residency programme

Description 

MART is proud to announce their exciting new International Residency Programme. Hosting international contemporary artists, MART is committed to supporting the production of high quality, experimental and challenging work. Through the residency MART hopes to encourage, process, experimentation and boundary pushing ideas.

MART is a not-for-profit organisation that provides studios and galleries for contemporary art. The aim is to create opportunities and promote the arts through a vibrant, international programme of events. With a supportive, yet boundary pushing ethos, MART is an ideal context to develop work.

Facilitated and supported by the MART Curators Ciara Scanlan, Matthew Nevin and Dr. Katherine Nolan and their international experience with a wide range of artistic practices and approaches. In addition to extensive projects within Ireland, MART has previously facilitated Artists work in events and exhibitions in the UK, Norway, Germany, Slovakia, Portugal, Greece, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Japan.

Resident Artist’s will benefit from:
A dedicated, safe and comfortable work space, Ideally located in vibrant area 20 min walk from city centre, Curatorial input from the MART curators, End of residency exhibition or showcase, if desired Exposure through MART’s national and international network: residents will be featured on website (one of the largest online galleries in Ireland), newsletter, and social media, Working in the context of MART’s established artistic community with 80 studio members, MART’s supportive, friendly and vibrant ethos, with frequent exhibitions, events, and studio member crits, Artist’s may potentially be considered for upcoming local and international exhibitions with MART and visiting curators, Access to shared tools, audio & visual equipment, Assistance from our onsite carpenter, electrician and technicians. 24hr access and security, 20% discount on inhouse printing service from Round Colour Printing.

Residencies may be developmental without pre-determined outcomes. Artists may also choose to have an exhibition in the space, as part of the residency

Accommodation Information 

Workspace Only residency!

Studio Information 

Newly converted stables situated in the heart of Rathmines, and alongside the iconic MART Firestation Gallery and Studios. Residents will be able to benefit from the central location and MART’s established reputation in the Dublin art scene, and internationally. The workspace is 6×6 meters, with large double barn doors, and access to kitchen area. MART has 4 studio buildings with 80 studio members, and regularly hosts exhibitions and events in the area.

Location 

Rathmines an eclectic area, 20 mins walk from the city centre with excellent access to public transport. The residency space is just off the high st, with access to coffee shops and restaurants, vintage and thrift stores, traditional pubs, shops and supermarkets. 10-15 minute walk to Camden St, Stephens Green & Grafton St. Great transport links with buses flying into the city and luas close by.
