The MAk Center is interested in those artists who are challenging the the traditional boundaries between art and architecture. Groups up to 3 persons can also apply.
The MAK Center for Art and Architecture has been focusing on innovations in art and architecture, supporting new tendencies and interdisciplinary developments which pursue spatial and conceptual experimental approaches. The radical œuvre of the Austrian-American architect Rudolf M. Schindler, who worked in L. A. from 1920 until his death, exemplifies the relationship between art and architecture which provides the guideline for the initiative. In addition to exhibitions, MAK talks, symposia and lectures at the Schindler House, the Artists and architects in residence program at Schindler's Pearl M. Mackey Apartment House is an integral part of the activities. The MAK Center is run under the direction of the MAK in cooperation with the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs, the Austrian Federal Chancellery's Department of the Arts and the 'Friends of the Schindler House' based in Los Angeles.
