Kunst Stoffe Artists in Residence Program

Kunst Stoffe Artists in Residence Program

Description

Kunst-Stoffe - Center for re-useable Materials, Berlin, offers residencies to artists of all disciplines. Openings are from May 1 - September 30.

Kunst-Stoffe is a cultural organization committed to exploring issues of value and waste. It pursues this mission in three areas of activity:

Kunst-Stoffe maintains an ongoing and changing exhibition of discarded materials and makes them available for creative practitioners. It carries out and presents projects investigating aesthetics and strategies of reuse. It offers workshops and facilities to provide a practice ground for creative exploration of the ideas of sufficiency and subsistence.

The residency includes free housing for the period of stay and offers work space at Kunst-Stoffe. The artist will have a small studio at exclusive disposal and additional outdoor workspace, as well as partial access to equipped workshops for wood, metal and crafts work.
The acquisition of materials will be supported if necessary.
Living and travelling expenses have to be covered by the participant.
Kunst-Stoffe will provide support in the acquisition of travel grants if desired.
Towards the end of the stay, each artist has the opportunity to present work process and results, along with a public program. During the stay, participants will be supported in having open studio presentations and holding workshops, if desired.
