The residency which is set in the context of a typical Swedish town, allows primarily two things, time and space. Here residents can develop their practice, exchange and explore ideas with a focus on artistic development with often no emphasis on production.
Kultivera is a cultural organization based in Tranås working with networking and interactions creating cultural exchange locally, nationally and internationally.
Residents can develop their practice, exchange and explore ideas with a focus on artistic development and does not have an emphasis on production.
The residency is situated in an old factory building which has been turned into a cultural centre run by Studiefrämjandet. Kultivera is one of the main partners using the building to develop culture. The studios and the accommodation are in the same building. It contains six bedrooms, a cosy dining room and a large self catering kitchen area. Bathrooms are shared, all towels and linens will be provided. The shared experience of living, eating and spending time together, forms an integral part of life at Kultiveras residencies. As the house is in the centre of town you will find several stores just near by. They also provide bikes to help you on your trips around the town and to the lakes and forests around the town.
The studios are housed in a 1800 m2 cultural center. The building was built in the early 1910’s and has accommodated both mechanical workshops and fur production. For many years now the house has been rebuilt to facilitate culture. Today the house contains music studios, film studios, dance studios, art studios, a café, theater, conference rooms, open lounges toilets, showers, a wash room, six bed rooms and offices.
The dance studios have abundant light, which is great to use for shared space studios – perfect for group projects or alternative working methods. The building has free Wifi Internet access a media room suited for photo and video editing and an Epson pro 3880 A2 color printer.
