Unfortunately, Kh-AIR does not provide any stipend or grant grant, but as a support it provides accommodation, meals, basic types of materials (based on each project).
Artists are responsible to arrange their travel to Khoni (or to nearest city Kutaisi).
The submission is free. To submit the ideas applicants have to send the required documentation to [email protected]
The final decision will be announced by 1st July, and the selected candidates will be contacted by e-mail.
The residency is centrally located in the Khoni (Georgia) town area. Khoni international art residency is run by a group of Georgian artists, Khoni art school, close partnership with regional municipality and local community. The Kh-AIR will host 4 international artists from 12th to 21th of July 2016. The residency offers an opportunity to be part of cultural event in the town of Khoni, providing time of 10 days and space in art school to develop ideas and artworks. The interaction between resident artists, art school students and accomplished artists from the region is more than welcome. The common language of the residency is English (although fluency is not necessary, an ability to interact with other artists in English is necessary).
The call is aimed at the selection of four ideas based on “Imeretian sketches - Khoni, visual storytelling”. The call is open to visual artists, craftsmen, video documentary artists, able to autonomously deliver the project. The selection and evaluation will be based on artistic quality, feasibility, sustainability, community engagement and coherence with the vision of the project. At the close of the residency period, artists are invited to present the outcome of their residency based on their projects in an exhibition space/gallery.
Artists will stay and share bedrooms at a guesthouse.
The main working spot is Khoni art school together with the students.
