Impakt Works
Impakt is the annual festival for idiosyncratic and innovative media art in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Impakt Works, which is Impakt's audiovisual laboratory, has an important artists' residency component. Impakt invites both foreign artists and artists from the Netherlands and especially from Utrecht to work on audiovisual projects in the Impakt AV production house. Impakt Works starts four projects a year on average, for which one or more artists of international renown are invited to become residents or to give workshops. Local artists or art students can be involved to maximise local spin-off. Workshops can be given by artists in residence, but it is also an option to invite artists to come to Utrecht for giving a workshop only. Small scale and high quality will combine perfectly in a focused exchange of ideas, views and knowledge, resulting in actual output: the production of works of art.
Impakt presents critical and creative views on contemporary media culture and innovative audiovisual arts in an interdisciplinary context. Impakt Works is a residency program for media artists, artists working with digital media, video, sound, interactive technologies etc. Impakt is looking for artists’ projects that fit the profile – i.e. investigative, critical. It is possible to consciously connect to the year theme ‘Soft Machines‘ in your proposal. Read more about this theme here.
The Impakt Works residencies are project based, with a finished work – for instance an (interactive) installation, a performance or a video – as the end result
