Artists interested in taking part in the program are free to be sponsored and supported by institutions, organizations, governments and their representatives. The logos of their sponsors will be included in all the communication (digital and print) of the events.

Application guidelines:

Applications should consist of:

  • Application form 
  • Artist's statement/Project Description/One-page resume/CV
  • $25 application fee by PayPal (see instruction at the end of the Application Form)
  • Visual Artists: Provide 5 jpg images representing your most recent work.
  • Video/Performance/Time-based Artists: Link to work on YouTube.
  • Curators/writers sample of written work(s). Maximum 6 pages.

The HMC is an artist run, non-profit, multi-disciplinary arts organization dedicated to excellence, experimentation, and education in all forms of contemporary art and culture. The HMC is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting international art and the understanding of world cultures, through high quality art exhibitions, cultural exchanges and related educational programs.

The AIR-HMC’s mission to bridge cultural, geographic, and linguistic divides by bringing people together through the arts in order to foster a greater understanding of world cultures, as well as to support artists and strengthen the arts in their vital role in the lives of people and communities. Their goal is to inform and educate the community at large through cross-cultural exchange, provide an opportunity for artists to work and exhibit in Hungary, and provide the artists with a supportive environment and uninterrupted time to work during the residency. HMC/AiR provides national and international emerging artists with the opportunity to produce new work while engaging with the arts community in Budapest, Hungary.

The HMC opened in 1990 as an artistic, educational institution. It has invited more then 800 artists, writers, film makers who play an active part in the field of contemporary art. During the residency period, HMC holds exhibitions, through creative activities, presentations, workshops, and lectures by the artists.

Outcome

The resident artists will have the opportunity to present their works in a gallery exhibition, also at an Artist Talk and an Open Studio.
