The residency is organised around the execution of a site-specific production. The result is shown to the public during an event at the end of the artist's stay. Thanks to institutional support, up to four grants are offered every year, with the decision of the open call being made public in January and June.

The organization also supports the artists with letters of support for external funding applications, individual sessions with homesession’s curators for individually-tailored residency development, gallery visits and scheduled events, Introductions to artists, arts professionals and organizations, invitations to private views, events, and networking opportunities, and small-scale presentation (artist talk, screening, open studio or one-day show).

Paid by artist:
  • Travel costs, living and material costs
  • Accommodation + workplace: residency fee of 1100€/month for 2 months (no shorter). Please find the detail of the costs in the residency guidelines.
Application guidelines:

Homesession has a particular interest in artworks that investigate the space (site-specific installation), public space, time and body (performance…), identity etc.

Situated in the center of Barcelona, homesession has initiated a residency programme dedicated to visual artists. Run by a curator and an architect from France, homesession hosts each year up to 10 artists from all over the world. The idea of this residency is based on a real integration to local life: the programme provide a flat and a studio and sessions with homesession’s curators for individually-tailored residency development.

Homesession is an independant organisation that offer up to 4 grants a year, that cover accommodation and studio. The artists who are selected are interested in experimenting new ways of producing and discovering the city.

Outcome

If you wish to organise an exhibition, you can additionnally rent the galleryspace, depending on availability (maximum 2 weeks).

Studio Information

In 2012 Homesession adds a new space for its programme, consisting of a flat for residents, an exhibition area and shared offices. It's also located in the Poble Sec quarter.

Accommodation Information

The accommodation is an 18m2 flat situated in a 50m2 studio. It offers private sleeping room, private bathroom and working space.
