Description
Gullkistan is a well equipped residency in a beautiful setting, perfect for artists and scholars with an ambition to work, create and be inspired by the South Icelandic country side. Plenty of peace and quiet. Accommodation ranges from single rooms to studio apartments, when availabe. There are two adjacent studios with shared tools, materials and WiFi. The residents are encouraged to participate in mutual activities.

Accommodation Information
Accommodation is in two buildings in the village of Laugarvatn.
- The Cabin – a big cabin with 4 bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom and a living room.
- The Studio – includes 2 bedrooms, bathrooms, a big kitchen and the studio spaces.
There are both single and double bedrooms. The houses are fully equipped with modern facilities, washing room and Wi-Fi connection. The view is wide and beautiful, with the lake in front and Mt. Hekla and Mt. Eyjafjallajökull further away.
Gullkistan is family friendly and they accept applications the whole year round. They try to arrange for separate housing when artists bring their families.
Location
The Gullkistan residency is located in Laugarvatn, a quiet village by the Laugarvatn Lake with a view of the Hekla volcano (not to worry, they are a safe distance away). Only 120 km from the Keflavik International Airport, 70 km from Reykjavík, and 40 km from Selfoss, the center for south Iceland services. It is accessible year round. Gullkistan is also near to Geysir and the Gullfoss waterfall as well as the high lands.
