Goa Center for Alternative Photography
The mission of Goa Center for Alternative Photography (Goa-CAP) is to create an ecosystem to advance knowledge, to generate new ideas, research and scholarship in photography that will best serve the artist around the world.
ALTlab Photography Residency has been designed by Goa Center for Alternative photography (Goa-CAP) to support artists who want to explore and experiment with their approach to the photographic medium.
ALTlab is focussed on nurturing:
- Film photographers, working hard but in isolation to develop their artistic skills to create and convey meaning through their works.
- Digital photographers who are looking for alternative ways to think about image creation and printing.
- Artists of any medium who are eager to use a dark room and silver to create images.
One month Altlab Photography residency of 6 artists, working without distraction, engaging in an interdisciplinary approach to both the investigative process and the production of work, leading to new thoughts, tools, and things unexpected and unpredictable. This unique residency will offer the participants an opportunity for exploration, reflection and experimentation.
At the end of the residency, there will be an ‘OpenLab day’ where the artists in residence will get an opportunity to share their work and ideas developed during the residency, with Goa’s art community and the general public.
Goa-CAP can suggest accommodation based on the choice of the residents. Please note that the accommodation cost is not included in the residency fee.
Goa-CAP provides the Black and white darkroom for the residents for use throughout the day.
