The Gil Artist Residency is located in Akureyri, North Iceland and was founded in 1991 by the Gilfélag association. They aim to stimulate creativity through interaction with the local environment, artists and cultural institutions, and seek to foster relations between participants and the local community. The Gil Artist Residency is a place for artistic research, production, meetings and exhibitions.
The artists are expected to give a presentation and exhibit their work in the end of their stay, at the fully equipped gallery Deiglan.
They can accommodate one or two artists, and are equipped with one independent studio, Wireless Internet connection, fully equipped kitchen & bathroom and a fully equipped gallery for final events & exhibitions. The exhibition space Deiglan is next door to the studio and has an internal access from the studio.
