The residency fee is $2,000 AUD per calendar month including GST, or $550 per week for residencies less than one month. A $500 deposit will be required upon acceptance with payment due before the start of the residency. The fee includes accommodation and utility bills for one person, studio space, exhibition space, power, and access to wifi. Full time gallery staff are on hand to assist when required. A push bike is also available for the artist’s use.
Also, the artists need to provide their own meals, travel, materials (discount is provided) and international visas.
48 By the Bay aims to share the unique location and space with artists from around the world while enriching the local art scene. 48 By the Bay is located in a historic Broome house, locally known as, "Captain Gregory's" after the captain who built it in 1917. Residents will be able to experience the cultural and natural beauty this town has to offer in the most authentic way. The place is located less than a kilometre from Chinatown and the east facing windows look out over Roebuck Bay.
Residents will be provided with accommodation and exclusive studio and hanging space on site. There is also access to a complete kitchen and laundry. While in residence, the artists will have access to the gallery staff and are encouraged to hang their works in the gallery. Public events and exhibition openings are also strongly encouraged and supported.

One empty, well-lit room, separate from the bedroom. If needed the artists can potentially also have access to a large enclosed veranda.
Artists are expected to provide their own materials, however, a discount at the local art suppliers is provided. Artists are provided with WIFI access.
Broome is a small town in far, far north west Australia. It is surrounded by pristine coastline and formidable desert landscapes. The town itself has a rich history in pearling and leaves a romantic attachment to all that visit it.
