Paid by artist:

$1,200 USD for international artists. $10,000 PHP for residents of the Philippines. Fees are monthly and per person. The fee includes:

  • furnished private room
  • work area in communal studio with Wi-Fi and 24 hour access
  • use of stocked kitchen
  • nightly prepared dinners
  • pick-up and drop-off to the Kalibo International Airport
  • assistance in conducting research and sourcing materials
  • language translation and province guide
  • assistance in the studio and critiques as needed
Application guidelines:
  • Cover Letter: In one page, explain your intended project and how this residency will enrich your practice as well as meet Elmo's House mandate.
  •  Budget: In one page, provide a breakdown of anticipated expenses such as travel, materials, shipping, labour, etc. Please provide information on how you intend to fund your project and what you need from Elmo's House.
  • Timeline: In one page, state when you wish to participate in the residency and how you plan to use this time. Please note that depending on your point of origin your time spent in the country may vary. Generally, you are welcome to stay in the Philippines for 30 days without a visa. If you propose a longer residency, you are responsible to attain a visa extension and other necessary documents.
  • Curriculum Vitae: In one or two pages, provide your contact information, web presence and relevant media links.
  • Proof of Documents: A copy of your valid passport and/or travel visa.
  • Artist's Statement/Project Proposal: In one or two pages, along with your statement, provide your intended contribution and/or proposed involvement with Batan. Elmo's house will take special consideration for those that can establish a meaningful connection with the surrounding landscape and culture.
  • Past Work: Provide 10 images with the title, medium, and year. Only include works made within the last 5 years. For digital works, please provide a link (1 image per page).

Elmo's House Artist Residency is building an international art community in Batan, Aklan while fostering cultural exchange through initiatives and projects. The residency facilitates new perspectives to conduct research and create work in an alternative setting. Acting as a conduit between the town and participating artists, Elmo's House hopes to initiate conversation about contemporary art and critical thinking.

Community outreach programs through LGU (Local Government Unit) collaborations.
