Dar al-Ma’mûn is an international residency center for literary translators and visual artists located in the Ourika Valley 9 Miles from the city of Marrakech, in Morocco. Dar al-Ma’mûn is a non-profit platform for art and knowledge production, which aims at encouraging mobility and intercultural exchange. On top of its residency programs, it offers year-round cultural programming, a free library, as well as educational activities for children and adults from the neighboring area. Translation projects initiated by Dam-arts or welcomingly received from others rely on the library collections at Dar Al-Ma’mûn and are followed up with the translators’ residencies program. Beyond the production of a translated text, Dar Al-Ma’mûn regards translators’ residencies as an ideal opportunity for intercultural exchange. During each session they will organize encounters, either informal or in the form of seminars and conferences. Getting together in this way will allow the residents to meet Moroccan writers and researchers concerned with the same issues. Read more about the literary translation program here.
