The residency started as a grassroots artist-run initiative dedicated to metalworks, but since its inception, we the residency has been welcoming artists from all disciplines interested in cultural interactions, exchange of experience, and creative cooperation.
Exhibition and/or presentation of work of the resident
A 50 square m studio fit for sculptors, conceptual artists, visual artists.
Option 1. Paid by resident: accommodation in a local motel, single room, very simple conditions, shower either in the room or shared.
Option 2. Free for residents: accommodation on site, in a shared space, bed with linen, kitchen facilities, shower, toilet.
Only individual artists can apply. Partners and family cannot be hosted.
Hand and electric tools for metal, equipment for metalwork, including forge, anvils, hammers, tongs; power hammer, welding machines (mig, mag, tig), drilling machine, grinding machines.
The residency is located in a small town of Perechyn (7 thousands inhabitants), Zakarpattya (Transcarpathia) region, Ukraine. There are several historical buildings and objects (from Austro-Hungarian empire and Czechoslovakian times) as well as a wood chemical factory impacting local ecology. Perechyn has many colorful cultural traditions and tasty food. The region is mountainous, the Uzh river goes through the city area, there are a lot of forests around. 25 km to Uzhhorod – regional center (railway station, bus station, border crossing with Slovakia), 50 km to Chop – border crossing with Hungary, 225 km to Lviv – largest city in western part of Ukraine, great cultural and art center.
