Description

Residency participants are selected by invitation and through regular thematic calls for applications. Residents are offered accommodations and studio space in the Château on Vassivière Island, and are provided with a stipend and access to a vehicle. Participants are invited during their residency to present a talk, performance, workshop, or other form of public engagement in relation to their practice or field of inquiry.

Outcome

Centre d'art reserves the right to ask the resident to participate in public meetings organized by the Centre d'Art as part of its mediation activities (cultural actions and educational actions) around his work as an artist and his project of residence on the island of Vassivière.

Studio Information

The residents share the open plan work areas spread over 192 m2 on several floors in the castle building, which are heated and equipped with an internet connection and telephone line. Designed by the architects more as a space for research and inspiration than as a practical working studio, the work space is not provided with audio visual or technical equipment; the residents are supported in personal, technical and material matters by the team at the CIAPV.

Accommodation Information

Each resident is accommodated in a fully equipped apartment in the castle building on the island of Vassivière, refurbished by the architects Berger&Berger and BuildingBuilding in 2012. There are three different apartments with double beds, one of which can accommodate a family (family apartment: 67.9 m2, studio apartments 1 and 2: 30 m2 and 28.2 m2). Each apartment includes a fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom/toilet. Sheets, towels and kitchen utensils are provided. The apartments are heated geothermally. A communal utility room allows the residents to do their own laundry on the spot.
