Description

The Centre for Contemporary Art creates opportunities for audiences to experience ambitious, experimental and engaging art, and for emerging artists to develop successful careers. They welcome artists and projects with a connection to their region and collaborate with others to strengthen the arts, locally, nationally and internationally. Centre for Contemporary Art (CCA) fosters a wide range of artistic, curatorial, and critical practices through five programme streams: research and production, exhibition-making, public programmes, publishing, and residencies.

The Centre for Contemporary Art Derry~Londonderry (CCA) is hosting a series of three digital residencies this year (2021); two applicants will be selected through an open call to follow the inaugural digital residency from Alberta Whittle in May 2021. The residency will last for one week, with each participant receiving an artist fee of £500. They are open to applications from artists as well as collectives or collaborations. The content of the residency does not have to fit into one category or medium; they are interested in hearing about proposals for live online events, performances, digital installations, film, resource sharing and more. They are looking to select one NI-based and one international artist/collective.

The residency will be coordinated by CCA’s Marketing Assistant Fiona Allan and she will provide an open line of communication between her and the artist when curating the digital content for the website.

Outcome

They will host new and existing work from the selected artists via their website.

Technical Information

The artist and co-ordinator would be working remotely, so they cannot offer access to on-site facilities. CCA staff can be there for curatorial support and administrative help.
