Casa Vecina-Espacio Cultural is a center for artistic research, which seeks to encourage innovative proposals related to its context, based on three settings: Mexico City, the Historic Center and the premises of Casa Vecina.
Estudio Extendido is Casa Vecina's main program. It is conceived to transcend the traditional exhibition space format, offering the guest artist a laboratory space focused in research, experimentation, and production over a period of 3 to 6 months. Thus, the program’s aim is not to present finished artistic products, but rather to propose an extension of the artist’s studio, whilst offering an opportunity for the artist to re-examine some of the display formulas and mechanisms of their creative process. Hence, artists appropriate Casa Vecina´s spaces in order to develop research, create unique and sometimes experimental display solutions, and make their creative processes public during their residency period. After this period is over, each project concludes with the publication of a book that explores the artist’s experience at Casa Vecina.
