Application guidelines 

Required materials for application:

- For ARTISTS:

1 – Application form. (download)
2 – Curriculum Vitae (maximum 2 pages) on A4 paper indicating education, exhibitions, group exhibitions, awards, publications, etc.
3 – A letter of recommendation signed and dated.
4- Portfolio of the artist in pdf containing up to 15 images, links to videos, websites or other online platforms that complement the portfolio (the number of links must not exceed 10). The pdf file must be in A4 format (1p) and have a maximum of 2 megabytes.
5 – If the artist has a textual production, send up to 5 texts necessarily in Portuguese, English or Spanish.
6- Copy of ID card or, in case of foreign, passport.

- For RESEARCHERS:

1 – Application form. (download)

4 - Miaximun 10 texts in pdf, published or not, art themed and necessarily in Portuguese, English or Spanish.

Description 

Casa Tomada is an intermedia project space for practice, research and reflections of artistic nature. The project started from a desire to build a space of convergence between several artistic areas. Focused on the entire production processand not only on thefinal art, Casa Tomada has the purpose to encourage debates and work development motivated by the experience shared in the house,  and  to  discuss  the  diversity of medias in contemporary art.

Casa Tomada offers one residency program twice an year, the Ateliê Aberto (Open Studio). The Ateliê Aberto is a temporal program that promotes the meeting between young artists and researchers (critics, art historians and curators) from any area of arts performance.
For 3 months, 5 to 7 selected artists and 2 to 4 researchers, spend most of their times in Casa Tomada, sharing their experiences, and working in the same large studio in the creation and production of an art piece – individual or collective – to an exhibition that takes place inside the house. The program is designed to stimulate the production and dissemination of visual arts offering a space for experimentation and exchange in wich the artistic creative processes are estimulated by the shared experience.
Young artists and researchers from any area of arts, all nationalities are capable to apply the selection process.

Outcome 

Visits of curators, artists and gallery owners; - Dinners with curators, gallery owners and/or artists; 
- Exhibition of the works produced in Casa Tomada during the process; - Promotion of the exhibition;

Living space, including lounges and a collective kitchen

Studio Information 

Studio of 80m²; art Library with about 1000 titles, including books, CDs and DVDs; BW photo lab; a computer for research, work and access to the internet; wireless system, basic material for drawing, collage and painting.
