The Bubec Sculpture Studio (Sochařské studio Bubec) is an independent artist's cooperative project, founded in March 2000 at Řeporyje in the Prague 5 district. It is designed for artists who require facilities suitable for focused monumental sculpture work and who are particularly interested in meeting members of the Czech and international artists' community and working in a new environment. However, the studio does not only focused on sculptors, and artists from various disciplines are regularly working in the studio.
Artists can share their experiences among themselves and introduce their work at the end of the stay at the major exhibition called 'Art Safari' that is organized twice a year during which the studio is open to the public throughout an entire weekend. These art exhibitions, supplemented by workshops and musical and theater performances are held in June and September each year.
Artists will be accommodated in a hostel in double-bed rooms. There is a possibility to pay extra 300€ for accommodation in a bed and breakfast with one-bedded room.
2 separated and heated areas available for the residents throughout the year and an 'open space' in studio's hall for 8 residents from January until December 2018.
The Bubec Sculpture Studio is located in a former warehouse of 1200m2, on a land plot of 3000 m2. The hall has an office, dressing room, shower and toilet. Up to 5 artists may work in the hall with 3 more working outside. At this time, the studio only has elementary equipment: desks with vices, hand tools, fork-lift 2 t, mechanical pulley, welding machine (380 V), grinding machine etc., however there are plans to gradually acquire more equipment.
Studio Bubec is closely located to the center of Řeporyje municipal, where all the basic services, markets, groceries, and art material stores are available. The artists can eat in several restaurants that are all within close walking distance of the studio. The center of Prague is about 30 minutes away by public transport.
