A small grant for the artist’s material costs is included.
The residency is free; the artist pays only for her/his travel and living costs. The artists at Ateljé Stundars are requested to donate one work of art each to KulturÖsterbotten’s art collection.
The visiting artists are chosen on the basis of an application made on the Ateljé Stundars’ application form.
Ateljé Stundars aims at providing foreign, mainly visual artists a studio and a guest apartment for two to six months.
The artist apartment is situated only a few hundred meters away from the studio. The apartment is about 75 m2, with three rooms and a kitchen. The very bright living room can also, when needed, be used as a studio. The studio is about 60 m2 and is situated in the pent floor in one of the traditional wooden buildings.
Ateljé Stundars is situated in Solf, in the municipality of Korsholm - about 15 km south of Vasa in Ostrobothnia. Solf with its 1600 inhabitants is a genuine ostrobothnian village with a lot of wooden buildings in traditional peasant style. Ateljé Stundars is located in a living crafts and open-air museum area. It offers its guests beautiful nature, with open fields in a modern agricultural surrounding. The deep forests are in range of a bicycle tour from the studio. There is a bike belonging to the apartment. The area is perfect for people wanting to study the traditional architecture of the region.
