Description

Atelier de la Rose is in the heart of a medieval village, providing exclusive creative retreats for artists and writers. The central courtyard leads to a fully equipped stone-built studio with its own rose garden. There is a large private terrace with panoramic views over the garden and the valley beyond. Next to the studio, an independent guest wing provides on-site accommodation.

Studio Information

The studio is a conversion of a centuries-old stone house with a terracotta-tiled floor and oak-beamed ceiling. The floor area is 7 x 5 metres; the height is 2.5 metres. Daylight illumination is by three sets of French windows. Supplementary lighting is by fluorescent tubes and halogen spotlights.

The French windows open out in three directions, thus offering a considerable extension of available working space in fine weather.

A wide range of acrylic paints has been bequeathed by visiting artists.

Accommodation Information

Next to the studio, an independent guest wing provides on-site accommodation. Artists have their own rooms. It is possible to come with partners.

Atelier de la Rose provides bedlinen, towels, soap, shower gel, and a hair dryer. The guest wing also has a small fridge and a washing machine (there is a small charge for use of the latter). An evening meal is prepared by the owner and included in the price.

Technical Information

Easels, trestles, drawing boards, folding chairs, sketching stools and slide projection facilities are provided. A stereo music centre and heating are included in the price.

Location

Atelier de la Rose is located in the Lot département. Its neighbours are the Dordogne, Lot-et-Garonne, Tarn-et-Garonne, the Aveyron, Cantal and Corrèze. It is the most northerly part of the Midi-Pyrénées (this region has been renamed Occitanie) and is but a few kilometres from Aquitaine, the region that runs to the Atlantic coast.
