ArtsIceland works with artists and producers to commission projects in a range of different sites and situations using various forms of media. ArtsIceland is based in Ísafjörður but working across Iceland and beyond. ArtsIceland encourages and facilitates an open-ended approach to the artistic process by seeking opportunities to help artists create works which have significant cultural impact.
ArtsIceland residencies are guided by the overall mission of encouraging and facilitating an open-ended approach to the artistic process and working with artists who are searching to create works which have a significant cultural impact. They offer two residencies with a private room and a private studio for visual artists, writers, designers, filmmakers, musicians and others who may profit from the environment/spaces on offer. People taking part in the residency program are assisted in familiarising themselves with this unique location, its people and their culture. ArtsIceland collaborates with Outvert Art space and artists in residence can apply to make use of the space, which is located in the same building, for exhibitions or other public events.
