The 16th century Besiendershuis is situated at the quay of the river Waal in Nijmegen. Since early October 2010 Besiendershuis commenced with the project Artist in Residence (A.I.R.) Besienders Huis / ‘Straight Flow’.

This cultural initiative differs from other A.I.R. projects as it concerns a double invitation. Every year a number of Nijmegen based arts and cultural organizations are given the opportunity to invite a special guest for a stay of two months. The purpose of the residency period is all about the collaboration between the host organization and its guest, resulting in a number of public events.

The overarching goal of the AIR Besiendershuis project is to realize quality programmes by which the reputation of the host institution itself, and the arts and culture of the city of Nijmegen in its entirety are enhanced and as such radiate beyond their borders.
