Since its inclusion in the Treaty on the European Union, cultural cooperation has become a new community competency. The Culture site is aimed mainly at European cultural operators who want to set up cooperation projects with other European partners. The European Cultural Foundation offers STEP Beyond, a mobility grant for artists, cultural operators, journalists, translators and researchers active in the cultural field. STEP beyond can be applied for all year long. 
The ECF makes special grants available for intensifying the exchange between Western and Central/ Eastern Europe.

Every year, the Canon Foundation in Europe awards up to 15 research fellowships. These supports are intended for young European and Japanese researchers (under 40), highly qualified in any discipline. The Canon fellowships are awarded to carry out research in Japan for Europeans, and in Europe for Japaneses, for periods of minimum three months and maximum one year.
The Canon Foundation also offers awards to European and Japanese outstanding scholars or leading members of private or public organizations. www.canonfoundation.org
