Ever thought of thinking textile? Writing textile? Now you can, for months on a row, as resident writer in Riga.

E-T+T stands for Electronic Text and Textiles Project: a non-profit cultural organization based in Riga, the capital of Latvia. E-T+T welcomes artists and writers working across the fields of literature and the arts, in particular textiles related. The term of a residency can be as short as a week or as long as several months. The guest will have exclusive use of a live & work appartment in Riga, access to artists, writers, and culture administrators working in the Baltics, and continuing access to an extensive network of scholars working in electronic environments worldwide.

Long term writing seclusion

In the heart of France the Foundation Pour que l'Esprit Vive innovated the old Cistercian abbey La Prée - founded in 1141 by Saint Bernard - into an artist in residence program. Since 1992 the abbey serves as a residence for artists, including writers and poets, to help them in their research and creation. The time spent at La Prée has to be at least 183 days! Creating Safe Havens for writers at risk

FreeDimensional is an arts and human rights service group, which creates safe havens at residential art centers for exiled artists, activists, writers, poets and citizen journalists in need of assistance. The group is located in New York City and established as a non-profit organization in 2006.
