WSW Workspace Residency recipients are selected through a jury process. These are partially-subsidized opportunities, meaning that award recipients will receive onsite housing and reduced rates on studio use. Residency grants are also available. Please check the website for details.

 

Paid by artist 

Workspace residents pay $200/week plus production costs

Application guidelines 

Residency period:

  • Apply by March 15 for Fall Studio Workspace Residencies (between September and January).  Applicants will be notified via email by June 1
  • Apply by April 1 for a Studio Residency Grant
  • Apply by October 15 for Spring Studio Workspace Residencies (between February and June). Applicants will be notified via email by December 1
  • Apply by November 15 for an Artist's Book Residency grant

To apply please send per mail (WSW, P.O. Box 489, Rosendale, NY 12472) following documents:

  • The signed Application Form
  • A one-page project description, not to exceed 100 words, including which studio you will need, and your level of experience.
  • Resume
  • A CD with ten clearly marked images of recent work. An image script with descriptive text, which should include title, media, dimension, and date. Check the FAQ sheet for digital specifications.

Women's Studio Workshop

Women's Studio Workshop

Description 

Founded and run by women to serve as a supportive working environment for all persons interested in the arts. To create professional opportunities and employment for women, to encourage women of diverse cultural backgrounds to work at the studios, and to encourage the general public's involvement with the arts. Artists are offered several opportunities for internships, fellowships and residencies.

Studio Information 

etching, letterpress, papermaking, silkscreen (paper or fabric), traditional black and white photography or ceramic studios. All artists have unlimited access to the studios.

Technical Information 

Artists are given a thorough studio orientation at no charge, but should be able to work independently. Technical assistance and instruction are available for $50/hour.
