Surrounded by the desert landscape of Presidio County, the foundation is located in the small Texas town of Marfa, 60 miles north of the Mexican border.

Outcome 

Exhibitions are often held at the conclusion of the residency. These become an important part of the museum's temporary exhibition program, and provide a vital counterpoint to the permanent collection.

Two up to three months.
Paid by host 

A stipend of $1,000 is provided to assist with travel and art materials.

Description 

Supporting the development of artists of divers ages, backgrounds, and disciplines the Artist in Residence program provides an opportunity for less established artists to develop and exhibit their work in a contemplative, but stimulating and challenging environment.

Artists spend a great deal of there time alone.The residency offers limited social interaction. The Chinati Foundation is ideal for those artists who seek a quiet and sympathetic environment with few distractions.
