Tamat is a museum with a programme for artists and researchers in the field of textiles. Eight grants are allocated each year to help artists and designers work on their project with an interest linked to textiles in its widest interpretation. Various activities can be proposed during the year: meetings with artists and designers, seminars and site visits.

Outcome

The year culminates in a group show and the publication of a catalogue. Researchers have to be imperatively present on tuesdays at Tamat and will be expected to write every 3 months, a report on the evolution of their work.

Discussions with designers, architects, belgian and international artists are scheduled during the year.
Workshops and conferences can also be organized.

Studio Information

3 individual studios are located on the third floor of the Museum. 1 studio for high and low-warp tapestry, 1 studio for textile and design, 1 studio for texture or related structures.

Location

Inaugurated in June 1990, the Museum of the tapestry and arts of fabric is located in an former hotel of master of neo-classic style. This museum is not only the seat of the permanent collections and temporary exposures but also a place of work where restorers implement all their knowledge in the execution of paperboards of tapestry or the restoration of works of art textile.
