The Skopelos Foundation for the Arts
The residency is offered from February-November and a two-week minimum is required and all applications are approved by the Board of Directors.
The Foundation requires that you donate at least 1 piece of work to their collection for future reference and exhibitions.
The studios are situated on two floors with an additional loft space which includes a kitchen and exterior barbecue space. The studios all overlook the Aegean Sea with lots of windows so that artists always see the light and the constantly changing colors of the water. The picturesque grounds are perfect for outdoor sculpture or site-specific works.
The residents may choose their accommodations among many offered on the island but the two nearest the studio are suggested and are offered at reasonable rates.
The studio is equipped with two etching presses; hydraulic press; light table; exposure drying unit; a computer loft with scanners and inkjet printers; a sculpture/ceramic studio with two electric kilns, 3 kick wheels, slab roller.
The island of Skopelos is midway between Athens and Thessaloniki surrounded by the Aegean Sea, part of the Sporades chain of islands.
There is no airport on Skopelos but there is one on the nearby island of Skiathos, a 35 minute trip by hydrofoil.
