Master Course for Research in the Arts
Den Haag
Netherlands
- Duration: 2 years
Description
As of September 2009, a new Master Course is starting. This Master Course for Research in the Arts is a collaboration between the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) and the Royal Conservatoire, The Hague in The Netherlands.
The research question of each individual student is the point of departure for this two year Master Course. This study is 60% practical (practice and research) and 40% theoretical (exploration and research). The practical part is conducted under individual supervision by a group of core tutors. Next to that guest tutors are invited on regular bases, in indivudual sessions or in group context. Each student works on the artistic context and subject matter within which the research takes place, in accordance with what the artistic discipline requires.
The theoretical part comprises three elements:
- lectures and workshops for developing academic skills, such as the philosophy of science, research methodology and writing skills
- group and individual classes on presentation and documentation, in which the research is presented and discussed in a Master's Circle.
- guidance by theorits for writing master thesis.
