Description
Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen is an international centre for artistic production, theoretical reflection and information exchange between artists working in the field of visual arts and the new media. The Künstlerhaus provides forum that facilitates a direct contact between artists, theorists and curators from the region and abroad. With its artist in residence programme <buchsenhausen.air> Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen aims to actively promote a discoursive art production and reflection in an internationally relevant context. The institution also promotes young, innovative artists and presents their work. The grant and the residency allow fellows to work on the proposed project but also give them the chance to experiment and to reconsider their current practice. Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen is an institution affiliated with the 'Tyrolean Artists' Association'.
Technical Information
Large project and presentation space (designed by Atelier van Lieshout) equipped with multimedia facilities: Macintosh G4 computers equipped with software for professional image and video editing, webdesign work and dvd authoring, professional mini-dv camera (Canon XL1), digital photo-camera (Canon EOS 10D), also free dsl/wlan internet access.
Accommodation Information
For each fellows an individual studio for working and living furnished with a large shared kitchen, there is also a big garden and an open veranda.
Paid by host
Accommodation and studio, a stipend of EUR 650,–/month covering the living and material expenses and a production budget for the realization of the proposed project.
Paid by artist
Board, food, individual traveling expenses.
Location
The art centre, the eastern wing of the Büchsenhausen Castle (built in the middle of the 17th century), is situated in Innsbruck above the river Inn at the hillside of the Nordkette, some ten minutes away from the centre of town.
