Artists based in Sweden can apply for the studios at Iaspis twice a year. Artists from abroad are invited by Iaspis for longer or shorter periods, sometimes in connection with exhibitions or other projects in Sweden. The international residency program is by invitation only. The residency includes a studio, accommodation, travel expenses and a stipend.
The main purpose of IASPIS is to facilitate creative dialogues and collaborations between Swedish and international artists. Iaspis encompasses an international studio program in Sweden, a support structure for exhibitions and residencies abroad for Swedish based artists, as well as program of seminars, exhibitions and publications.
The Iaspis program is based around nine studios at Södermalm in Stockholm, where both Swedish and international artists work. In addition to the studios in Stockholm there are three studios in Gothenburg, Malmö and Umeå for international artists.
The building of the Royal Academy in Stockholm, where the studios are situated, holds various exhibition halls, three seperate galleries for contemporary art and a restaurant. The IASPIS office and the studios of various sizes are located on the third and fourth floors.
