The program of grants for researchers in residence is open to historians, curators, critics, independent researchers, artists and scientists in various fields, including computer science and related areas of social science. Applicants must be researchers at the doctoral or post-doctoral level, or demonstrate that they have equivalent experience or have achieved an international reputation for research in art, science and technology.

The CR+D accommodates researchers and provides several computer workstations linked to documentation database, to all the digital material in the collection, and to a high-speed Internet connection. They also offers reference and research support services as well as technical resources accordance with the project in question.
