CALLE MAYOR 54
Calle Mayor 54 is a residency program starting 2017; renovated 1920's house where artists are invited to reflect and produce art in a small village surrounded by nature. Calle Mayor 54 is a private initiative whose objective is to boost the art in remote areas. It is opened to visual artists with no age limit, nor restriction on nationality. Artists are selected by an application process.
Calle Mayor 54 is located in the centre of Lumbier, which is a small village with a population of approximately 600 in winter, and 2.500 in summer. If you would like to attend a lot of parties, meet many artists, go to interesting art exhibitions, then, maybe Calle Mayor 54 is not for you. If you would like to have a quiet studio, time and space for reflection, share daily life with three more artists and enjoy nature, then this could be a place for you.
Artist should have some outcome after hers/his stay at Calle Mayor 54. At the moment, the work will be documented, archived and disseminated on the internet. There is a possibility to have an exhibition at the end of the residence in collaboration with a local museum. The artist should be able to give a lecture about her/his work if requested.
Living and working space are mixed. Three studios are for non-dirty stuff. There is one extra studio for dirty stuff. Unfortunately, and by the moment, there is not space for superdusty works, as plaster dust, wood dust etc.

- 1 shared kitchen and dining-room
