Application guidelines:

Artist must be able to converse in at least one of the above languages as the artist will be required to meet with the local artist community through the open studio days. Experimental and innovative projects to be given priority.

Just send by email, elements of your practice that clearly define what you do, what you have done so far with a CV and a description of what you would like to do while in residence. You just need to give us a rough idea of your need for work detailing what you do (painting, photography ...) in order for us to assess the possibility to accommodate your need for the studio. Order your emails as Application 1/3; Application 2/3; Application 3/3; when sending several emails.

L'Artocarpe is a non-profit artist run organisation based in Le Moule, on the island of Guadeloupe. It promotes contemporary art setting the focus on artist practices bringing into it theoretical input (via conferences, discussions, debates, portfolio reviews with art critics, publications and so on). L'Artocarpe is encouraging artists to research on and challenge their practice, experimenting with new materials, confronting their work to constructive feedback given by professionals, prior to disseminate artworks through strategic shows.

Two types of residencies are offered: self-financed or supported. Please contact l'Artocarpe for further details on the residencies.

Location

Located in Le Moule, by the seaside, L’Artocarpe is in the heart of a vibrant little town of Guadeloupe, which is culturally very rich and diverse. Next to the cultural centre (music studio, photography darkroom, dance floor, cinema, theatre) and to the media-library, artist in residency are able to extend their working space to those two building with which L'Artocarpe has a partnership.
